Alison Gee

I am an artist and designer, and have worked in textiles for over twenty five years. I graduated from Chelsea College of Art and Design in 1992, with a degree in Printed Textile Design, specialising in Designing for Interiors.

I started working for Sanderson, and Morris & Co in 1993, and was employed there for twenty four years. I feel truly lucky to have been one of the last designers trained in the traditional way of design in the studio - and one of the first to be trained using CAD, benefiting hugely from excellent training in both of these methods.

During my time at Sanderson, and Morris & Co I was responsible for many of the well known and best-selling designs of their much loved and respected, brands.

For the last five of those years at the company, I became Head Designer for Morris & Co., working on all of the archive collections, creating both new designs - and recreating Morris`s own, original works. Since the launch of the Archive Collections, and lthe 2016 Morris Pure, the brand has grown considerably, as has my love and respect for the work and beliefs of the incredible man, William Morris.

Between these Morris collections I continued to produce many of the Sanderson designs. I have always loved the variety in the work, and the opportunity to try out many different styles and techniques. In recent years, I introduced many animal figures into the patterns - and discovered an enduring love and passion for creating animal portraits.

In the portfolio section of this website, you can see a selection of some of my work from more recent years, which is available to buy from Sanderson and Morris & Co.

I have now established my own company - still designing for Morris & Co., Sanderson and Zoffany - whilst producing my own work, and paintings some of which are available to buy, and working on commissions in all areas of art and design.  Please contact me with any queries through the contact page of this website.
